From High School to Netflix: My Cameo in Stavros Halkias' Uncle Stav

Funny how life works. One minute you're going to high school together in Baltimore, and the next you're working together on Netflix specials.

I recently had the opportunity to be part of something pretty special when comedian Stavros Halkias brought his latest Netflix comedy special, Uncle Stav, to The Lyric in Baltimore.

The Lyric reached out and booked me to DJ both nights of the tapings. What made the experience even better was that Stavros had no idea I was going to be there.

For night one, I held things down in the lobby, providing music and setting the atmosphere for the crowd. Somewhere along the way, Stavros found out through social media that I was there. After realizing we were both in the building, he invited me to join him onstage and backstage for night two. What started as a regular DJ booking turned into an unexpected reunion and, eventually, a cameo in the special!

This wasn't our first time working together, either. When Stavros was preparing his first Netflix special, Fat Rascal, he actually reached out to me on Twitter and asked to use my track "Let Me Show Em" for the intro and ending credits. That was another unexpected moment that brought my music into his world.

For some added Baltimore history, we both attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and have roots in the Roland Park school community. So seeing where life has taken both of us makes this latest collaboration even more meaningful.

From sharing the same school hallways to having our creative work connected through Netflix, it's been amazing to see how things come full circle.

Big shoutout to Stavros for showing love and making me part of the experience, and to The Lyric for bringing me in to DJ both nights.

Sometimes the best opportunities come from relationships and connections that started long before anybody knew where life would take them.

From Baltimore to Netflix. What a full-circle moment!
